Abstract
This study aims to determine the level of scientific literacy skills in students. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was 85 class VIII students at MTsN 6 Padang City in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument used in this study was a scientific literacy written test which consisted of three types of questions, namely multiple choice, complex multiple choice, and true/false. The questions used cover three indicators of scientific literacy, namely explaining scientific phenomena, evaluating and designing scientific investigations, and interpreting data and scientific evidence on the subject matter of Substance Pressure and Its Application in Daily Life and the Respiratory System in Humans. The results showed that the average scientific literacy ability of students at MTsN 6 Padang City was in the sufficient category with a percentage of 53.85%. So, it can be concluded that class VIII MTsN 6 students in Padang City have an adequate level of scientific literacy ability.
