Abstract
This research intended to produce a valid and practical experimental video Make Your Own Compass on magnetism and its applications, referred to hereafter as (VMOC). This experimental video contains STEM components and critical thinking queries. The method employed in this study is the creation of the Plomp model, which consists of three phases: preliminary research, prototyping, and evaluation. This research is limited to two stages, up to the prototype development stage. The instrument utilized is a questionnaire comprised of validity and usability pages. Three science education lecturers from FMIPA UNP conducted the video validity test, while a student from SMPN 15 Padang conducted the practicality test. The validity test of the experimental video yielded an average Kappa Moment value (k) of 0.85, which was included in the very high category, while the practicality test yielded average Kappa Moment values (k) of 0.91 and 0.93 for the one-to-one evaluation and small group evaluation stages of the test video, respectively. With the VMOC, instructors can conduct Magnetism and Uses practicums at school and at home as additional learning media and train students' critical thinking skills.
